I've been teaching at some of the best conferences since 2013. I've had the privilege of reading hundreds upon hundreds of manuscripts: from the first chapter, to the first fifty, to the entire manuscript.

When I work on a writer's manuscript, I focus on the story. My goal is to help the writer to create a powerful story that resonates with readers. I do not line edit or proofread. Instead, I focus on the elements of story: the arc, the plot, the character, the motivations, the story beats, the gaps, and the payoffs. 

 

Many writers spend thousands on line editors and proofreaders when what they needed was a story development editor to help the author deliver a great story that will capture the attention of the reader.
